CHERISH - XOXOCHI

CHERISH - XOXOCHI

24x30x2"

Acrylic on Clayboard Panel

This painting is part of an ongoing series called CHERISH. Placing your hand over your heart is a common gesture in Indonesian and Eastern Asian cultures and is used when greeting someone. The gesture is interpreted as an act of bringing them into your heart. I chose to place a house or apartment building where the heart is referencing the old saying "home is where the heart is". The idea of the artwork is that we should welcome each other into our homes and hearts. This piece, in particular, speaks to my love for Chicago as well.

It can get cold out there in this city and we all need a safe place to shelter from the storm.
